How To Get Quality Traffic For Your Fitness and Health Website
Web traffic generation is a hot topic these days. There are countless methods being recommended to increase traffic. Some are useless junk and some actually work as promised.
I’ve run several web businesses full time for over five years now. I’ve tried just about every traffic generating method out there. Let me save you some time and tell you what doesn’t work. At least it didn’t for me.
Methods That Are A Waste Of Time:
Free for all directories: Don’t bother spending your time on these. No one is interested in your offer, only their own. Webmasters created these website so then can send you their offers in the confirmation email. No one is actually reading your ad. I’ve never had any luck with this type of traffic generating method.
Mass Spam Email: Don’t even think about. It’s a real fast way to get yourself in big trouble with your web host and your Internet Service Provider. Also, who would buy from someone sending them junk email. People hate to get spam email. Plus, now with so many spam filters out there, most of your emails will just end up in the trash folder, never to be seen or read.
Push Button Website Creators: How many people waste money on this type of system? Save yourself some time and money and stay away from these. If it were that easy, the owner of the software would be doing it, not selling the system to you.
Buying The Latest Magic System: How many millions of dollars have been wasted by people getting scammed by the “latest magic traffic system”? Don’t fall for it. Keep your money in your pocket.
Methods That Work:
Pay By The Click: This method does work. The biggest drawback is the expense. Many people that are just starting out should probably try less expensive methods first. Who wants to spend $200 to make $50?
Posting To Social Websites: This can work but takes a lot of time. You have to sign up for each social network and then be a regular contributor. Don’t just spam your offer all over these sites. It’ll just get your account deleted and mark you as a spammer.
If you want to try your hand at social marketing, you may want to give Hubpages or Squiddo a try. Make a good page with lot’s of content and you’ll get some visitors from these high traffic websites.
The Best Tactic:
Article Marketing: This is the method I use to get quality backlinks and targeted traffic to my website. Why are these links so good? They are one-way links. Google gives these links the most weight. If you get enough one-way links, your website will rise in the search engines. Plus, you’ll get direct traffic from the article directories themselves.
Write a quality article. Don’t just spin some PLR articles with a one click spinner. You’ll just get junk. You want to have a good article or the directories won’t publish it. Take your article and submit it to the top 10 article websites. Write another article and repeat.
Not only should you submit to the biggest and best article directories, but also make sure to submit to niche article directories. This will give you the biggest advantage in the search engines due to the related theme of your site and theirs. Also, more people are likely to click through to your website. Example: if you run a health and fitness website, be sure to submit your article to as many health article directories you can find.
Try to write and submit at lease one or more articles per week. Make it a habit. It’ll pay off in the long run.
If you run a health or fitness related website, please feel free to submit your articles to our PR3 Health article directory. Visit us at http://www.feel-best.info to submit your article. There is no charge to submit your articles.

I couldn’t agree with you more I just finished submitting some genuine articles I wrote to some great sites and it is definitely the best method to get noticed!
Good post, common sense. Only one borderline misconception, you are absolutely correct that Free For All Directories are worthless for “Sales”. However, they are used to create themed, and often successful linking opportunities for increased SEO ranking. This is the reason they exist for the most part as they have little value outside of a free link.
One of the best ways to make article marketing easy is to use PLR articles.
Good heads up, Brad!
Some short sidenotes…
Article directories are best used to build relevancy for your website and generate referal traffic to your important webpages. They aren’t so good at building PageRank, as Google and other SE only consider the first one way inbound link coming from a certain domain.
Also, when intending to submit to hundreds of article directories, think again, and choose only the top 25 max.
The reason why is because the vast majority of AD have a PR of O,1,2 and an Alexa ranking of above 100.000 which meens the traffic they’re getting is very low – no one reads your article.
And to sum this up, poor quality equals low crawling and indexing rates from SEs. When I first started article marketing I submitted (spinned) articles with auto software to hundreds of such poor directories. After checking my backlink portfolio and traffic stats I realised that only top AD delivered backlinks and sustainable traffic. The rest – a total waste of time.
Glad I have contributed to your blog! Talk soon!
Cheers,
Cristian
A great way to save time posting to Social Websites is to utilize either onlywire or socialmarker. These two websites are designed a little different but in the end both do a great job of saving you time posting to Social Bookmarking sites.
Yeah niche article directories are the way forward. There are plenty in the health and fitness field, although sadly some are not regularly maintained so you can spend a while waiting for your article to be approved.
If you write about fitness products, we would be happy to accept some articles at ezineshopper.com providing they’re product related
Thank you very much, i didn’t think of the article directory as a source of traffic generator, i only use social network and ppc compaign.
thanks
