Squidoo And Hub Pages: Two Forces To Be Dealth With

Posted on October 14, 2009, 4:13 am, by Marc Marseille, under SEO & Google Marketing.

The net is full of social networking blogspots and communities, but two of the best out there are Hub Pages and Squidoo. Both of these social Journal networks seem to have an excessive advantage when it comes to ranking well with the search engines. Along with Word Press, Ezine Articles, and of course Google Blogger, these two communities can get found almost at once. The issue is not whether they are successful forms of advertising but rather, which one lands the most damaging punch?

Hub Pages is a community for authors, bloggers, or anybody wanting to contribute something appealing with the written word. Your blogs at Hub Pages are known as hubs. You can select from unique modules to improve the look and uniqueness of your hubs. Hub Pages allows you to add your adsense, amazon, and Ebay ID to you hubs to generate proceeds from anybody who clicks or purchases from your links. You can also add keywords to your hubs to make it simpler for the search engines to locate you.

Squidoo is also a community for writers and very related to Hubpages. The major dissimilarity between the two is that Squidoo refers to its websites as lens. Just like Hub Pages, you can put up unlimited lens on any topic while earning additional income from adsense, amazon, and Ebay.

Squidoo is very Google friendly and permits you to insert up to 40 keywords to your lens to increase your search engine position. As you can witness, these two powerhouse, high pr social communities share numerous similar characteristics; So what are the dissimilarities?

The differences begin with the profit from your income modules. Squidoo has a collective earning policy which distributes the entire earnings between the whole Squidoo community depending on the ranking of your lens. The higher your lens rank, the bigger portion of the income you receive. Hub Pages on the other hand permits you to hold 100% of your revenue from adsense, amazon, and Ebay.

Another difference are the regulations and policies. Hub pages is very strict on self endorsement or over promotion of affiliate products. They will ban you quickly if your intentions are to only provide content for the sole purpose of spamming. Squidoo also disallows spammers, but they are more welcoming to internet marketers who are interested in creating lens to promote their affiliate products or programs. I guess you can say that Squidoo gives you a wider freedom of speech. Hub Pages additionally does not allow adult content.

Squidoo has recently stiffen their policies on the types of lens that they will accept. Examples of lens that use to be normal that are no longer acceptable are: Lenses on mature content, medical miracle cures, and lenses with more than 9 links to the identical web page. If you can reach giant squid position (50 lenses) than these policy may be waived.

Both Squidoo and Hub Pages present a location for like minded people to bring their visions, thoughts, products or artistic expressions to the World Wide Web. The question of which one packs the hardest punch in my opinion, can simply be left up to each individual. I personally use both. Since both communities are without charge to sign up and free to socialize, I find it that it makes sense not to discriminate. The decision between one over the other would be the equivalent of leaving money on the table.

Hubpages is great specially when you are just starting out to learn how to earn online. Hubpages is spidered frequently so you know that the pages you create will get found by the search engines soon enough. When writing a hub, concentrate on finding a profitable topic and don’t worry about promotion when you’re just starting. Soon you’ll see a trickle of earnings. The trickles will turn into real income if you just keep at it.
