Strategies For Ensuring That You Deliver Good Customer Service When Internet Marketing

Posted on May 14, 2010, 8:18 am, by Julie Pearl, under Traffic Generation.

Because internet marketing is primarily seen as an hands-free way of doing business, many people get on the bandwagon to make their fortune. It seems too easy to set up a website that people can visit in order to buy products, do all you can to attract business to your site, and just sit back and wait on the money to start rolling in. With this view of things, it does not look like there is much effort at all. This could be the reason a lot of these internet marketers are doing a less than acceptable job at customer service. The truth is that customer service is just as valuable to an online business as it is to an offline business. Here we will demonstrate some of the techniques you can use in your internet marketing efforts to give the best customer service possible to your customers.

Get a mailing address from each of your buyers and then, after they have purchased something from you, send them a handwritten note thanking them for their business. This is a task that is much easier to undertake if you have a small business and will not be left writing hundreds or more notes. If you are operating a small business, though, these are the little things that customers will notice. When your customers receive your handwritten note, they will feel like you care about them personally and will think of you the next time they need the type of service you offer. Writing a quick thank you note should only take a couple of minutes. This could ensure future sales that can add up to hundreds of dollars.

Another good strategy that will keep your customers happy is sending them an email offering them future discounts for return business. This process is very easy to automate through a responder, but is a good strategy because it gives your customers incentive to come back for more. This is a great way to add hundred, or maybe even thousands, of dollars to your bottom line. No one wants to turn away a good deal. You might offer this in the form of a coupon code that they can enter on your site or you might offer them a personalized product or service if they respond to your mail directly.

Offer support for your products. You’ll find that technology use is easier for some of your customers, and that others struggle. You’ll keep your customers very happy when you offer free support to those who ask for it. You could build your reputation up and become very popular, indeed. Good customer service is what drives word of mouth business. By offering free support for your products and services, customers see that you care about more than just how much money you make. This will increase your business.

Good customer service is smart business. Look at what kind of customer service other internet marketers provide. Internet marketers who don’t offer good customer service will see their bottom line suffering. The fact is that your customers are real people. They are not simply PayPal accounts that send you money. If you treat these customers as friends and not as money, they will come back to you over and over again.
